Sandy Point, St. Kitts & Nevis (March 17, 2015): “I’m coming to St. Kitts to host the 2015 LIME Miss BLACK SAN; swimsuit pageant!” Simple yet significant words uttered by the multitalented Reigning Miss World Guyana 2014.
The LIME Miss BLACK SAN; swimsuit pageant, the federations premier pageant of its kind has fielded an impressive slate of hosts since its inceptionand this year promises to be no different.
I’m pleased about the community service that the S.P.I.R.I.T group has been doing so far and I am very happy to be a part of the well renowned BLACK SAN’ festival, specifically the LIME Miss BLACK SAN’ swimsuit pageant as the host; Said Hussain
In speaking with S.P.I.R.I.T President Alanderson Selkridge, he expressed the groups gratitude to the various government ministries for their partnership in this endeavor;As we strive towards broadening our portfolio we are always eager to partner with all government agencies, groups and individuals in bringing awareness to the many social ills which plague our society. BLACK SAN; remains one of the unique instruments that we utilize toempower the members of the community towards positive social change;
Rafieya continues to champion her platform of Domestic Violence and have introduced a number of initiatives in Guyana to help push the ‘BLUE BEAR’ campaign including a;I COMMIT TO; bracelet, a symbol of hope and in addition to establishing an empowerment centre have also founded the RIVAH (Rafieya’s International Vision and Hope) website which provides resources for empowerment, prevention, education and advocacy on the subject of Domestic Abuse.
I hope that my trip will inspire women across the federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. I am excited about the opportunity to work alongside The Ministry of Gender Affairs to help push the ‘BLUE BEAR’ campaign, especially since I’m very passionate about working with young people to educate them about domestic violence and recognizing its early signs. I want to thank everyone who played a role in making my visit to the lovely St. Kitts possible, in particular the St. Kitts Tourism Authority.”
