BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JANUARY 29TH 2015 (CUOPM) – The Returning Officers and Places of Nomination have been announced by the Electoral Office.
In a statement the Electoral Office notified the general public that following the Writs of Elections by His Excellency Sir Edmund Wickham Lawrence, Governor-General, for the Election of Members of the National Assembly to be held on Monday, 16th February 2015, notices concerning the Nomination of Candidates have been published by the Returning Officers for the eleven (11) Electoral Constituencies in accordance with the provisions of Section 59 (1) of the National Assembly Elections Act, Cap.2.01
The Notices of Nominations set Friday 6th February 2015 as the day for nomination of candidates.
Nominations will be received by Returning Officers at the places of nomination between the hours of 10 am and 1 pm and 2 pm and 4 pm.
Returning Officer of St. Christopher (1) is Mr. George Arthurlyn Belle and the Place of Nomination is the Basseterre Police Station on Lozack Road.
Returning Officer of St. Christopher (2) is Mr. Sylvester Charles and the Place of Nomination is the Anglican Church Hall on Victoria Road, Basseterre
Returning Officer of St. Christopher (3) is Ms. Sandra Davoren and the Place of Nomination is the St. Johnson Police Station, Basseterre.
Returning Officer of St. Christopher (4) is Mr. Steve Wrensford and the Place of Nomination is the Old Road Police Station.
Returning Officer of St. Christopher (5) is Mr. Kervin Lloyd and the Place of Nomination is the Sandy Point Police Station.
Returning Officer of St. Christopher (6) is Miss Ruby Taylor and the Place of Nomination is the St. Paul’s Police Station.
Returning Officer of St. Christopher (7) is Mr. Thomas Williams and the Place of Nomination is the Cayon Police Station.
Returning Officer of St. Christopher (8) is Mr. Andy Blanchette and the Place of Nomination is the Stapleton Police Station.
Returning Officer of Nevis (9) is Mr. Alstead Pemberton and the Place of Nomination is the Charlestown Police Station.
Returning Officer of Nevis (10) is Mr. Shefton Liburd and the Place of Nomination is the Gingerland Police Station.
Returning Officer of Nevis (11) is Ms. Eileen Walwyn and the Place of Nomination is the New Castle Police Station.
The Electoral Office stated that each candidate must be nominated by two (2) registered voters of the Electoral District for which the candidate seeks election.
Each nominated candidate is also required to deposit with the Returning Officer, the sum of one EC$150.00.
The deposit will be refunded provided the candidate receives over one-eighth of votes polled in the Electoral District.
