Rich Mancuso is urging the government of St Kitts and Nevis to allow a second round of Herpes Vaccine trials to be conducted on st kitts in a letter addressed the federation’s Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris, dated September 12, 2017.
Mancuso wrote The reason for my letter to your Excellency, is to humbly ask for further kindness and hospitality in allowing tourists to not only visit your beautiful island, but to allow them to receive the current and only availably vaccine that works for treating HSV Herpes.
The government of St. Kitts and Nevis has launched an investigation into the clinical trial for a herpes vaccine by an American company because it said its officials were not notified about the experiments.
The vaccine research has sparked controversy because the lead investigator, a professor with Southern Illinois University, and the U.S. company he co-founded did not rely on traditional U.S. safety oversight while testing the vaccine last year on mostly American participants on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts.
The trial received financial backing from a former Hollywood filmmaker who has asserted the vaccine was highly successful in stopping herpes outbreaks. Since then, a group of investors, including Donald Trump supporter Peter Thiel, have backed the ongoing vaccine research with a $7 million investment that could include additional clinical trials in Mexico and Australia but Mansuco wants trials to continue on St. Kitts as well.
He indicated in his letter that he was one of the individuals who received the vaccine on St. Kitts and he considers him self lucky.
He revealed, “it has not only changed my life, but it has also healed me.”
In his letter Mansuco further stated, “I receive messages every day from many people from all over the world who suffer in terrible ways from a disease that many never asked for or were unfortunate enough to be exposed as children. These people pray every day for hope, and I believe that St. Kitts can be that hope, and a beacon for medical advancements in a world that seeks change.”
See letter below:
Last year, I had the privilege of visiting your beautiful island a few times and I must say, I highly enjoyed it. The local people on the island do not get enough credit for their caring manner and hospitality that seems to come naturally to them. I do hope to make more trips to St. Kitts in the future.
The reason for my letter to your Excellency, is to humbly ask for further kindness and hospitality in allowing tourists to not only visit your beautiful island, but to allow them to receive the current and only availably vaccine that works for treating HSV Herpes. I was one of the lucky individuals who received the vaccine on St. Kitts, and it has not only changed my life, but it has also healed me. I receive messages every day from many people from all over the world who suffer in terrible ways from a disease that many never asked for or were unfortunate enough to be exposed as children. These people pray every day for hope, and I believe that St. Kitts can be that hope, and a beacon for medical advancements in a world that seeks change. Even though I am a proud American, I do feel that many of my countrymen and politicians have lost their vision and lost their way when it comes to helping others. Perhaps St.Kitts can be that shining light for the world to see.
Under the current EU laws, the Names Patient Program allows Governments worldwide to use created provisions for granting access to drugs prior to approval for patients who have exhausted all alternative treatment options and do not match clinical trial entry criteria. This is a perfect situation for those who suffer greatly.
Although I do not know what transpired with previous conversations with Rational Vaccines, I can say as a person who once suffered and who no longer suffers being tortured from this disease, I would simply ask your Excellence for compassion and understanding during your investigation and please consider the thousands of people who would be more than willing to not only visit your beautiful island and boost local tourism, but also see St. Kitts as a new pioneer, towards advancing medical breakthroughs and a beacon of hope and love.
