The high ranking policeman accused of sexually harassing several of his male subordinates has been asked to respond to the complaints.
Sources close to the matter tell OBSERVER media he was given five days to reply with an explanation or defence.
The countdown started when the attorney general, Steadroy Benjamin, wrote to the officer on Thursday after the Police Service Commission invited him to do so.
The time to respond runs for five working days.
The senior cop, who cannot be named because the complaints are sexual in nature, was given copies of three complaints from his colleagues, to which he has to reply.
A fourth letter from a young man seeking to join the force was also sent to the police service commission but is not included in this particular probe since the complainant is an ordinary citizen.
This development comes shortly after a meeting this week, of the seven members of the Police Service Commission who were asked to swiftly investigate the matter.
The officers reported that the advances by the senior policeman were made on different occasions over the past three years.
And, they expressed concern about being victimised if the officer continues to hold his senior post.
One cop has already reported he has been victimised and certain tools that were assigned to him were taken back when he refused his colleague’s sexual advances.
