drug bust-1Three men and a woman are to be arraigned in court tomorrow on charges related to the almost 700 pounds of cannabis seized in a counter-drug operation last week.

Two brothers, Kimron John, 31, and Mark John, 27, (who were born in St Vincent but are citizens of Antigua & Barbuda), Vincentian Steve Brown, 35, and 24-year-old Makeesha Henry of Antigua were nabbed on Friday by officers from the Office of National Drug and Money Laundering Control Policy (ONDCP) in the Big Creek and Golden Grove areas.

A total of 697 pounds of compressed cannabis was seized.

Kimron, who has served in Antigua & Barbuda Coast Guard for the past 10 years, and his brother were apprehended in a vehicle that was transporting the drugs, which carry an estimated street value of $1,395,250.

The quartet faces charges of drug trafficking, possession and possession with intent to transfer the controlled substance and being concerned in the supply of cannabis, believed to have originated from St Vincent.

This latest bust follows that of another counter-drug operation by the ONDCP that resulted in the arrest of two Vincentian men found with over eight pounds of hashish oil.

Twenty-seven-year-old Junior Forde, and Curtis Williams, 33, were caught at an apartment complex in Creekside on August 7 with three packages of hashish oil. The estimated street value was $33,500.

The duo was charged with possession, possession with intent to supply and being concerned in the supply of hashish oil. The men appeared in the All Saints Magistrate’s Court on Thursday where they were denied bail for the alleged offences.

They will remain at Her Majesty’s Prison until their October trial date or until they can obtain bail in the High Court.
