Team St.Kitts-Nevis the Sugar Boyz has again made history with their latest move up the World FIFA Rankings. The Sugar Boyz were previously Ranked #80 in the World and with the latest Rankings releases just hours ago on Thursday September 15th St.Kitts-Nevis is now #77 in the world. The spot puts them ahead of China and Just below Libya and Bolivia. The Team has now also leap-frogged over Caribbean Powerhouse Jamaica and is now the 2nd Ranked Team in the Caribbean . This is the highest the Team has ever been ranked and may very well also be the smallest country in the world to be ranked this high in the history of the FIFA World Rankings.
In a recent statement SKNFA President Anthony Johnson said “…………….years of investment in the development of the team, its management and technical staff is now paying dividends.”
In June St. Kitts and Nevis topped the table in round two to advance to the third round of the CFU Caribbean Cup qualifiers scheduled for next month in October. The road to the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup will only get tougher for the Sugar Boyz, who will be facing French Guiana and Haiti in round three of the CFU tournament.
Johnson says this round is extremely critical for St. Kitts and Nevis. If the Sugar Boyz come out of that round as the leaders, they would qualify for the Gold Cup which would be another historic accomplishment. The team just recently returned from Nicaragua where they played to a goal-less finish against the South American Team.
