St.Kitts Sprint Queen Shenel Crooke was selected as Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Track Performer of the Week as announced by the league office on Wednesday. It was the second consecutive week that Crooke has earned the weekly honor.
Crooke’s selection also marked her fifth MEAC Performer of the Week honor this season for the junior, who earned the first two awards during the indoor season and was named league performer of the week for the outdoor season on April 6 and April 20.
A native of Basseterre, St. Kitts, Crooke competed in three events last weekend during the 13th annual Morgan State Legacy Meet. She won the 100 meter dash with an ECAC qualifying time of 11.48. It was her third straight win in the 100m this season. Crooke would also run an ECAC qualifying time during her second-place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.28, while helping the 4X100 meter relay team to a second-place finish with a time of 46.01 to qualify for the ECAC outdoor meet.
Crooke and several of her Lady Bear teammates will be back in action this weekend, when they travel to Philadelphia, Pa. for the 122nd running of the Penn Relays (April 38-30) held at historic Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
