The St.Pauls Tuff Knots are continuing their 2015 winning ways into 2016 as they easily dispatched of the Horsford’s Ghetto Roots over the weekend at Basketball City to improve to a division leading 7-1 Record with 22 Points. The Tuff Knots are ahead of the RAMS Hitters, Horsford’s Ghetto Roots and the SOL Fig Tree Dirt Revellers .
The Atiba Harris sponsored St.Peters Runnerz are holding on to the 5th Spot while former Champions Ghaut Bucks and Development Bank Challengers Exodus wre holding on to the 6th and 7th rankings.
The Final Playoff Spot if they were to begin today would go to the Cotton Ground Rebels. The PJ’s and the Cayon are the two bottom teams who will be fighting hard to avoid relegation to the “A” Division.
The St.Pauls Tuff Knots are without a doubt favourites to repeat as SKNABA Champion as the brothers duo of Nosharn and Naren Maynard remain the leagues most formidable front court. Guard Clayton Powell continues his magnificent play for the Knots while roll players such as Karris “Bol” Douglas and Jouvert Leader have been giving teams a great deal of difficulty to handle.
RAMS Hitters the Finalist from last year have been playing well. Coach Barman Hanley has once again put his recruiting ability to work having added former National Player Levi “By-By” Fyfeild to his line up I addition to Ansel “Bonzi” Revan and Sylvester “Buzz” Whyte who have each returned to the team from the stint with the Challengers Exodus.
Fyfield along with Team Captain Jah Love Powell have made the Hitters an even more formidable force than they were last year when they made it to the finals under the leadership of Coach Glen Ghost Phillip. Phillip is now with a much depleted Exodus team who are a far cry from the championship caliber group which dominated the league just 2 seasons ago. Fig Tree is holding their own and with the pending return of National Guard Tambie Caines the Fig Tree wil no doubt be among the serious contenders for the SKNABA Titles.
Multiple Time Champions Horsford’s Ghetto Roots has gone through a management change as well as significant personnel change to the team. The Team seems a bit more unified and together and has resulted in a fairly good showing thus far for the season.
The SKNABA League continues daily with Premier Division Games being held mainly at Basketball City on Thursday’s Saturday’s and Sundays as well as the Grell Hull Dora Stevens Complex in Nevis. “A” Division and J-League Games are played mainly on the remaining days and occasionally on Saturdays and Sundays also at Basketball City.
