Sugar Boyz Beat Antigua 1 Nil in Exciting Caribbean Cup Football Match

The much anticipated Scotiabank CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup 2016 match between St. Kitts & Nevis and Antigua & Barbuda ended in a thrilling 1 nil victory for Team St.Kitts-Nevis at Warner Park Cricket Stadium on Tuesday night. A massive crowd turned up to support the home team and root them on to victory.

The first half ended scoreless with Team St.Kitts-Nevis having the better scoring opportunities and outplaying their arch rivals Antigua with deft passing,and being consistent defensively and offensively.

Then in the 65th minute Harrison Panayiotou received a thru ball which he successfully placed in the back of the net to give Team St. Kitts a 1 nil advantage. Credit must also go to Team St.Kitts-Nevis’ goalie Julani Archibald who preserved the 1 nil victory with some astonishing saves.

Freedom Fm spoke to SKNFA President Anthony Johnson who congratulated the team on their performance and attributed it to consistent determination and skill application on match day.Johnson reminded listeners on what had been achieved so far and what lies ahead as the team continues to progress going forward. Johnson said Team SKN will head into round two at the top of the points table.

The two teams are already qualified to move on to round two of the year-long tournament, both having defeated the other team in the group Aruba. Antigua & Barbuda defeated Aruba 2-1 on March 23 while St. Kitts & Nevis sent Aruba packing with a 2-nil trouncing in Aruba on Saturday.
