PencilsAndCoinsPublic school teachers will receive their full retroactive pay later this month, according to President of the Antigua & Barbuda Union of Teachers, Ashworth Azille.

Azille said this was confirmed in a meeting on Friday between members of the union and Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Senator Lennox Weston.

“It was indicated, very early, by Senator Weston. Actually, he gave the assurance that the retroactive pay would be paid during the course of this month,” Azille said yesterday.

He also said the parliamentary secretary was unable to indicate whether the monies would be paid during the course of the month or at the end of September when teachers are to be paid their regular salaries.
