MARIGOT, St. Martin, October 30, 2016 – St. Kitts and Nevis recovered from a defeat the night before at the hands of Team SXM Pheonix to trounce Saba with a 25- 5 ; 25- 5 ; 25- 3, victory. Team St. Kitts and Nevis set aside their fatigue and played relaxed volleyball. Leading the way were Genelle Howell, and Shanicia Dyer, as they blistered the ball from all sides of the court. The pillaging netted them thirteen and ten points respectively. They were ably supported by a frugal defense and good communication.
Despite tasting the bitter fruit of their opponents, Saba tried withstanding the test. Unfortunately, the team moral ebbed and it affected the entire game. Despite this, moments of brilliance was seen. Joy-Ann Robinson showed lots of guts in set two as she threw herself in all directions to prevent the ball from falling.
Coach Collins and Captain Henry from St. Kitts indicated the team served and communicated well. According to Coach Collins, this match allowed us to find the rotation we were looking for. Saba’s Coach Spence and Captain Berkel felt the team under performed as they could have been tired but lack of experience precipitated the results. However, both were optimistic improvements will come through more exposure.
