Team Unity is a tool for political power and the lone senator on the opposition benches in the St. Kitts and Nevis National Assembly, Hon. Nigel Carty, has again warned that its leader who heads the three-party coalition, is fast becoming a totalitarian Prime Minister.
“The word unity means exactly the opposite of what it means in the context of what we see happening in St. Kitts and Nevis today,” said Carty, who again raised the concern that the two-year-old government has employed persons to attack its critics in the social media.
He said the former deputy clerk of the National Assembly who was unceremoniously replaced without notice was attacked on social media.
Even supporters of the PAM and PLP – two parties in the Team Unity Government “who dared to be speak out against the injustices, allegations of corruption and wrongdoings of the Team Unity Government are defamed and libelled in a most scandalous, horrific and brutal manner.”
Sen. Carty is of the view that the People’s Labour Party (PLP) has become the personal property of its political leader and Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris.
He noted that the PLP founded in 2013 by six persons who became the Founding and Executive members, “are now ostracized, alienated and their character assassinated for demanding to see documentary evidence of the proper disbursement of campaign funds that are allegedly unaccounted for.”
“The PLP has become the personal property of Prime Minister Timothy Harris and though they continue to talk about unity and democracy, we continue to say that from the very inception, we continue to see the tendencies of Timothy Harris towards dictatorship. He is a narcissist and he behaves like a Nazi. What we see is just a movement of Timothy Harris in the same direction; a movement to being a totalitarian leader,” warned Carty, who added that with information already known to the public “the only Founding and Executive member who was there in 2013, and who will be at the PLP convention scheduled in the safe zone of his constituency of Tabernacle on Saturday, is Timothy Harris.”
“It is about Timothy Harris. He is demonstrating that it is his personal property. It will be held in the school just across from where he lives,” said Carty, a former Minister of Education, Information and Agriculture.
