Charlestown, Nevis, May 9, 2016 (THG News): The Federation’s newest media network, THG, was officially launched at Riviere House on Government Road on Monday, May 9. THG can now be accessed at www.thg-network.com. The on demand network, which features news, shows, entertainment and other online content, is the brainchild of entrepreneur and well known media personality Mr. Mervin Hanley. Hanley previously worked as Press Secretary to the Premier of Nevis.
Speaking at the launch, Hanley told the invited guests, which included Premier the Hon. Vance Amory, Leader of the Opposition the Hon. Joseph Parry, business leaders, media practitioners and friends and supporters of THG, that he is still “pinching himself” and shared his vision for the network. Speaking to Freedom Fm’s Maurice Flanders on ISSUES after the launch, Hanley outlined the series of news, entertainment and educational services that would be offered by his network. .
They include “The Mervin Hanley Show”, “Out and About” hosted by Shevanee Nisbett, “Island Eatin’” hosted by Patterson Flemming, and “The Real Right Unleashed” hosted by Maurice ‘EK The Real Right’ Flanders. Giving invited comments were both Premier Hon. Vance Amory and Leader of the Opposition the Hon. Joseph Parry. Calling on his vast experience in financial matters, Premier Amory used the opportunity to admonish the management of THG to use well established business practices to ensure effectiveness and longevity. Amory warned that the media industry is very competitive.
In his remarks, the Hon. Joseph Parry observed that Nevisians had always been entrepreneurial, and that THG had come at an appropriate time. Labeling some of what he sees on American television as “stupidness”, Parry urged THG to be mindful of the content it produces, and to seek always to broaden and deepen the democratic process.
