Efforts are being made to ensure Antigua and Barbuda does not reach the point of domestic spread of the coronavirus.
Minister of Information Melford Nicholas at today’s Post Cabinet briefing said the country now has three active COVID-19- cases.
They have been described as domestic cases.
Nicholas said with respect to the last case, one gymnasium has been closed to facilitate contact tracing.
This is to ensure the country does not have a spike in locally spread COVID-19 infections.
He said the Minister of Health raised this alarm during yesterday’s Cabinet meeting.
The Minister of Information said there is also some concern about the COVID-19 protocols, such as the wearing of masks, not being observed in some gatherings.
The public is being urged to continue follow the island’s COVID-19 protocols to reduce the spread of virus.
According to the country’s COVID-19 dashboard at 6pm yesterday, there were 97 laboratory confirmed cases in Antigua and Barbuda.
