Justice Lorraine Williams this morning (Apr 27) dismissed the murder indictment against three men in Nevis, however police immediately arrested the men again.
Asim “Wassie” Parris of Stoney Grove, Dexter “Pilikin” Somersall of Prickley Pear Alley, St. Kitts and Craig Halliday of Sprott Street, St. Kitts stood charged for the January 2008 shooting murder of 28-year-old Leon “Gravo” Westerman of Low Street, Nevis. Parris and Somersall were charged in January 2014, while Halliday was charged in April 2012.
Last week (Apr 23) the Nevis High Court Judge heard applications from the attorneys defending the men. They moved to have the matter dismissed on a technicality during a pre-trial hearing.
This morning Justice Williams dismissed the indictment however all three were then taken into custody on arrest warrants for the same crime, obtained by the Prosecution last Thursday.
The trio was then discharged once more and arrested again on fresh warrants.
They have been remanded to HMP.
