NRP Representative Robelto Hector told a Freedom Fm Issues audience on Tuesday, that the time of the CCM Administration is coming to an end. Hector said the CCM led by Premier of Nevis, the Honorable Vance Amory had no effective governance agenda for Nevis. Hector said there had been an upswing in violent crimes.
“The time of the CCM Administration is about coming to close. My good friend and brother, I’m sure Carlysle Powell might be able to tell you the exact days, the exact hours, minutes and seconds that we have had to work with this Government. From day one… we in Nevis understood perhaps in the Nevis Reformation Party that our Premier who leads this beloved island had no plans and this is not because I am saying it… he said it himself. When he was asked what uis your plans for Nevis as an administration, he said “elect me and then I would show you what I can do”. On the ground we have always said that it is always an action in response to what the NRP has done and we have also said that they’re good at stealing ideas, but I must say to you they did not do a good job and that is what brings me to my discourse this afternoon [yesterday] to tell you… I am entering my senior years, I would want to call it that. It seems very significant for me but this crime continue to be a serious problem here in Nevis and in the Federation by extension. Violent crimes, we would realize that what we get from the police sometimes they’re asking for assistance. Sometimes, I wonder if it is a case where they themselves are becoming frustrated and I draw your attention the last crime… homicide that we had here in Nevis in Cotton Ground. Sometimes we’re informed yes, by way of the press releases because whether we see it on Facebook. It’s not until you get some of these what I would call “press releases” from the authentic source that you tend to understand what happen. So here we are on our heels. We had a murder in Cotton Ground, we had somebody shot in Bath on the weekend and now we are facing the Inter Primary which is our Mini Olympics. I’m saying to you one cannot but remember that one of the brutal crimes took place when we were celebrating our young at an Inter Primary. So the history is with us.”
Hector asked rhetorically if the six point plan was working.
On Tuesday a youth march against crime was organized by the Ministries of National Security and Education in adherence with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and features students from the high schools in St Kitts. A similar march is planned for Nevis on Thursday.
