A top official of the Inland Revenue Department Ms Vashni Belle says the Inland Revenue Department has dispatched remittances for businesses to come in and pay their business and occupation licenses by the given deadline of January 31st, 2017.
Ms Belle pointed out that businesses should come in before the due date as after that fines and penalties would begin to accrue. The interest charged is 1% per month or 12% per annum and $50 per day for late payments.
Ms Belle further pointed out that operating a business which is not duty registered and licensed would be subject to a fine of $150 or 3 months imprisonment.
Ms Belle further advised nationals to come in and pay their property tax which is due by June 30th.
