In a late-night update, the New York Post is reporting that President of the United States Donald Trump again put out a tweet calling for athletes to stand during the national anthem and even dragged all-time great sprinter Usain Bolt into the fray Tuesday night.
According to the New York Post, Trump posted a video of the Jamaican Olympic gold medalist being interviewed on TV in 2012. He suddenly cut the chat short as “The Star-Spangled Banner” was being played over the stadium PA system and then stands quietly as the music is heard.
“Even Usain Bolt from Jamaica, one of the greatest runners and athletes of all time, showed RESPECT for our National Anthem!” Trump wrote, to go along with the 82-second video.
In the awkward footage, Bolt asks the interviewer, “Is it live?”
He then pointed at one end of the stadium, said “national anthem” and stood at attention.
The tweet comes after Trump demanded last weekend that owners of sports teams fire players that kneel in protest during the national anthem.
