Usain Bolt could not win the 4×100 relays for his country but still managed to create history.

News Americas, NASSAU, Bahamas, Mon. May 4, 2015: While all the news globally focused on the loss of Jamaica’s men’s 4×100 relays team to the U.S. in The Bahamas Saturday, few realized team member Usain Bolt had broken another record.

The world’s fastest man clocked 8.65 to own the record of fastest 4×100 m anchor leg in history even though Team Jamaica’s 4×100 men’s relay team was bested by the USA which brought their “A” team to the 2015 IAAF World Relays.

The results Saturday were undeniable and powerful. Mike Rodgers, Justin Gatlin and Tyson Gay powered the Americans to a five-meter advantage through three legs of the highly anticipated race and Ryan Bailey brought the team home in 37.38 seconds.

Bolt made up ground with the record setting run on Bailey in Jamaica’s anchor leg but could not close the gap as Jamaica finished second in 37.68.

Jamaica’s men’s 4×200 relay team, however, bounced back to retain their title in a 1:20.97 despite a sloppy second exchange and win over Team USA while Jamaica’s women claimed the win also ahead of the US in the 4×100-m.

The US Team meanwhile showed their strength on the tracks taking not only the men’s 4×100 but the win also in the 4×400 with a world-leading 2:58.43 ahead of hosts the Bahamas. Team USA also dominated in the women’s distance medley shattered a world record as Americans won three of four finals.

Bolt will next take to the tracks on June 13th at the New York Diamond League.
