Is World Peace coming back to Los Angeles?
The rebuilding Los Angeles Lakers have had former forward Metta World Peace in for daily workouts at their practice facility and closing in on a one-year deal, Yahoo Sports/FS1 NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported Wednesday.
World Peace, who helped the Lakers win the 2010 title, began working out with the team this week. And while no deal has been agreed upon, it is expected to happen this month, according to the report. The man formerly known as Ron Artest last played in the NBA with the New York Knicks, who waived him during the 2013-14 season.
The Lakers believe World Peace, who played in China and Italy after his time in New York, has matured into a veteran who can provide toughness to a young Lakers roster, according to the report. The 35-year-old former All-Star has averaged 13.8 points and 4.7 rebounds in 15 seasons in the NBA.
